I just wanted to pass on the setup I use for running FreeAXP on my Mac. As you would expect, FreeAXP runs with no issues under BootCamp, since it is simply a dual-booted version of Windows. Since I own a Mac because I love OSX, I run my Windows programs under Parallels whenever I can. The good news is that FreeAXP works great!

When I setup my Parallels VM for FreeAXP, I allocated 2 processors and 1024 MB of memory. (FreeAXP requires a minimum of 2 processors.) I've run several versions of OpenVMS 7.3, and it runs great on my 3+ year old Mac Book Pro Core 2 Duo. I've also tried the same build on my 1st gen Mac Pro, with 2GB of memory and 4 processors. It does perform marginally better, as the host OS isn't spending as much time competing for resources.

I'm running OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) with Parallels 5. I've tried FreeAXP under both Windows XP, and Windows 7 x64, and the performance is *much* better under 64bit Windows 7. And the best news is that there is only a 5-10% performance penalty when compared to running FreeAXP under BootCamp on the same machine.

A small price to pay, if you ask me!
