Accessing console listener over network was created by psmode
I have been running FreeAXP quite happily for some time under Windows XP. I have even figured out how to get it to start automatically as a service and clustered it in with my virtual VAX!
I would now like to enable access to the Alpha system console beyond "localhost" being the Windows XP system on which the simulation runs. I have already put in a Windows firewall exception for the application, but this is not enough; netstat still shows the listener for port 9000 running from 127.0.0.1 only. Is it possible to open this up?
I am interested in opening up access beyond localhost so that I may experiment with the ConsoleWorks hobbyist system I am now laying in. Setting things up with proper console management will allow for some interesting experiments.

Hi Peter,
That should work, other people are successfully running that way. Are you running IPv6 by any chance? Try connecting using the IPv4 address of the host system.
Camiel.

What you have done should work. If your FreeAXP host IP was 192.168.1.10, the you would access the FreeAXP console by telnetting to 192.168.1.10:9000. As long as there a no issue around blocked network access (firewall, router rules, etc.), you should be good to go. We use this method extensively.<hr>

Weird. It is working for me now. I must have overlooked something. I did reboot the Windows server, but I can't for the life of me figure anything that i might have changed.
Thanks for the replies.
