As a workaround, try right-clicking on c:\program files\freeaxp\freeaxpcfg.exe and select "Troubleshoot compatibility". Select "Try recommended settings", then "Run the program". Please let us know if this works, and what compatibility settings (e.g. "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)"<img src='../images/smiley/wink.gif' alt='smiley'> was presented.

...hum...
The only options presented are Vista [][sp1][sp2] and Server 2008 sp1
Using 'Vista' compatibility allows the program to run correctly!

At least that provides a workaround, and - hopefully - it's a hint to help us solve the problem. Thanks for the info!
